Reply From: anonymous 91 year old sickly woman Report Violation

My husband and I have been renting an apartment for the past two years in Ocean City, New Jersey. The utilites are too high and have come across a house for rent somewhere else in New Jersey. I am sickly and stay in bed most of the day. We gave our landlord notice (22 days) that we will be moving to another location. however, we asked if we could stay until the end of October as the house will not be ready. Our lease is up on 9/30. The landlord has flat out denied our request to stay another month because she states that she has to show the unit and cannot show it with us in here. We are now going to have to move into a motel and put all our furnitur in storage for a month, which will be an added expense and we are already on a fixed income. I would like to know if there is any recourse for us regarding this matter.
