Scared renter

MD General Topics

One of the tenants here has had a history of assault. About one year ago, she shoved another tennant into a treadmill over an air conditioner. Did the landlord have any obligation to inform a new renter of this issue?  I am scared. I do not like feeling like I am afraid to walk out of my door. (This person lives very close by to me, and I have logged several noise complaints on him).

OH

Landlords are not required to tell you about who lives in the rental, even if they are sex offenders or convicted felons. However, you have right to verify this information by checking the address through the Rental Protection Agencies Landlord verification system, or you can do a sex offender search through your states Sex Offender Registry.

Try out the Roommate Screening Service that RPA has. As per privacy purposes, landlords will not be releasing info about tenants that occupies his units. But then again as mentioned above the it’s your right to know since it’s concerning about your safety too. You can do either the RPA Landlord Verification System or the Roommate Screening.
