| COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
|
I have not encountered a Bed Bug infestation before. I entered my second year of rental on July 19th, 2011. For the entire first year there was no bed bug infestation demonstrating my properties were free of bed bugs upon initial move-in. I was not made aware of the danger of bed bugs. On August 1st, all tenants of the building received a memorandum stating that our buidling was experiencing a bed bug infestation. A K-9 sniffer unit was brough to the complex on 8/4. I was not present. I was notified by my landlord that the K-9 falied to identify any bed bugs in my apartment further demonstrating that I was not the cause of the infestation. A few weeks ago I began to notice little red bugs crawling on me about once per day. The situation has continually become progressively worse. Within the last few days i have started documenting the bed bug bites. I have been waking up daily with fresh bites for the past 2 weeks. Yesterday i began to combat the infestation personally using traps and purchased some insecticide powder today. It seems negligent to me that an entire month has passed and the bed bug situation has only grown progressively worse. I contacted my landlord today to inform her the unit has a serious bed bug problem. I was informed that I would have to pay the costs for the extermination.. A neighbor who lives upstairs told me that he too is experiencing a bed bug infestation. He also said the K-9 unit identified 2 storage units on the 1st floor as being infested. on 8/4. Over the last week I have gotten very little sleep and have experienced roughly. 70-80 bites. I was unable to sleep last night due to constant agitation and bites. Over the past 12 hours I have trapped 6 bed bugs. I have recently started documenting the bites that usually last for 2-3 days. I do not have another place to live since this unit is infested although a Walmart parking lot is sounding really good to me.
