COMPLAINT : Breach of Agreement-Bed bugs

COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

Landlord was contacted to make landlord aware that a guest had been bitten continuously for a period of over 3 months by an unknown source. Bites were painful and covered a large portion of guest's arm. Contacted landlord--no resolution. Landlord was contacted again-- Landlord sent someone to spray for bugs two days later. Bug bites worsened severely. A guest had over 17 bites on one arm on the following morning. Tenant suspected bed bugs and called Orkin for a free inspection. Orkin stated there were bed bugs present in the apartment. Orkin stated a full heat treatment was required to rectify the situation. Informed landlord multiple times of report. Landlord sent same person that previously came, back to spray again a few days later. There are visible bed bugs in apartment. Tenant 1 has been unable to continue staying at apartment. Tenant 2 had no alternative housing arrangements and was forced to stay. Bedbugs have not been resolved. Neither tenant had any issues with bedbugs prior to moving in February. Apartment is uninhabitable. Landlord did not resolve issues in a timely manner and therefore is in breach of rental contract and should release tenants without penalty and return rental deposit.
