COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
I moved in 205 Howard St. on may 1st about 6 weeks after we moved I discovered bugs on my mattress and was being bit nightly, I briefly mentioned to Mr. Riddle about the Bugs that I believe were in the carpet in the master bedroom. I asked him if the carpets were cleaned before we moved in he replied " he did not thinks so but was not sure."
I shampooed the carpets and tried to treat my mattress with no luck. I throw my mattress out. At this point the bed bugs where not in my sons room or my brothers room on the third floor. I started researching i discover that the bugs were bed bugs. I contact my former landlord of 2 yrs so see if the house we moved from was infested. she provided me a letter stating that there was no bugs of any kind at our former residence. Mr. Riddle's maintenance man Butch stopped by to replace a ceiling fan in the master
bedroom I advised him of the problem and showed him the carpet, he contacted an exterminator. the exterminator looked at the residence and scheduled an appointment. Before the extermination was done Mr. Riddle agreed to pay for the extermination as well as to give us rent free from 8/25 to 9/25. After the extermination I still have bed bugs and Mr. Riddle was very rude an told my husband he was tried of the bedbug problem and we could move immediately since we are now behind on our rent. Whent I advised Mr,Riddle that residence was not exterminated prior to us renting 205 Howard St (which in MD is the law) and I was having the local health department inspect the residence he screamed at me and said he would take me to court with an expert witness that would state my couch was the source of the problem. Mr.Riddle is also a lawyer in Cecil County as well as a landlord.
