Since January 2012 when I moved into the apartment, I have been getting bitten by bed bugs. Over time, my allergic reaction to the bites has gotten more severe. I got bitten on Friday, September 21st, and by Saturday, I had hives around my neck, chin, and scalp. I found a bed bug on the wall, Tuesday, September 25th.

COMPLAINT : Bed Bugs
Fair Resolution according to renter :
  1. Heat treatment by professional company to kill bed bug infestation
  2. Heat treatment cost covered by Equity Residential
  3. Equity Residential move my furniture to and from other location while my leased apartment is having heat treatment
  4. Equity Residential cover cost of moving my furniture while my leased apartment is treated
  5. Equity Residential deduct days not able to live in apartment from monthly rent along with Equity paying for kennel fees for cat while apartment is being treated.

COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

Moved into my apartment in January 2012. Contacted the leasing office to inform them of bed bug infestation a week after moving into the apartment. Treatment of my infested apartment consisted of approximately eight chemical treatements. Have consistently been notifying Property Manager of finding bed bugs since occupation of apartment. Still finding bed bugs in apartment. Found one this morning on the wall. Have asked Property Manager for bed bug heat treatment since chemical treatment is not killing all of the bed bugs, but was told that this is not an option.
