Since a brief period after I moved in over a year ago, my apartment has been infested with bed bugs. Eleven80 refused, despite a clause of an agreement they had me sign with their exterminator, to notify, treat, or inspect the apartments adjoining mine. (I notified them of this clause and still have the email. Their response: we're not going to "upset the apple cart." When I finally told some of the people that live by me, the building representatives were livid with me, tried to characterize it as a betrayal of trust for me to warn people, and refused to inspect the apartments, at least one of which was vacant during key times. All evidence indicates the bed bugs are moving in the building from apartment to apartment, and now management's willful blindness has cost me too many lost nights' sleep (not to mention thousands of dollars in treatment and relocation expenses). Life is too short to pay such an exorbitant amount for bed-bug-infested living space.
I re-signed my lease which started up again in the last month, after my apartment was declared clean by the building's nice-but-expensive exterminator. I paid for that inspection. Since then, bites have persisted, I had to pay for another canine inspection with the same exterminator, and this time the result is they are in or around the wall I share with my next-door neighbor.
Management takes every opportunity to blame me for the problem, and they can be quite mean about it.
I have been (unpleasantly) surprised to discover my apartment was infested with bed bugs on THREE separate occasions, and as a result that place is WORTHLESS to me now. Bed bugs are disgusting and nobody should have to live with them. Knowing (because I told them) that I will never live there again, management at both high and low levels insists that I pay for the remainder of my year-long contract, which just started again. This is the better part of TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A SPACE INFESTED WITH BED BUGS FOR ALMOST A YEAR! I never would have lived here had I known this is how issues are dealt with at Eleven80.
