COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

I recently (within the past 12 hours) found bed bugs in my apartment. I moved into the apartment on August 22 of this year. I have not had any incidents of bed bugs in the past. Since moving here I have seen mice (reported to landlord), spiders, and bed bugs (reported to Landlord). I was informed that because "Chatham Village had not had bed bugs before, they would not pay for treatment." This is not adequate justification for failure to remedy, at Landlord's expense, a condition that renders the premises uninhabitable.

LANDLORD / TENANT RESPONSES (2)
From Date IP Address Response
Renter Nov 2, 2012 108.77.182.233 1. I propose that the landlord accepts liability for the [parasitic] condition that is on the verge of rendering the premises uninhabitable. In the alternative, I propose rent abatement if the problem persists and until resolution. Background and Rationale for Proposal Since treatment, approximately 3-4 weeks ago, I have found 3 dead bugs in the second bedroom in locations that indicate the bugs were recently [i.e. post-treatment] mobile (2 - on separate occasions - on the surface of the desk and 1 on the ceiling in the same room). This total does not include the dead bug the exterminator found in the second bedroom during the follow-up inspection. Additionally, after further inspection (on 10/29), 2 adult casings were found. As recently as 11/2/12 I encountered what I suspect is a new fecal cluster in the master bedroom.

Explanation: I am willing to continue uninterrupted payment of rent until 11/30/12 if infestation is conclusively determined to be resolved.

Renter Nov 2, 2012 108.77.182.233 Offer an Alternative Resolution.

Landlord Oct 29, 2012 108.240.91.142 Offer an Alternative Resolution.
