I have just recently noticed my apartment has bed bugs and was told i would have to pay the total bill. the previous Friday 1/4/13 i was left a list of things to do and told the exterminators would be coming on that following Monday 1/7/13. I was on call the week of 12/31/12 to 1/6/13 so that Friday i did not make it home until around 6 PM i was surprised to see the note and bill since no one had talked to me about dates or anything so in a panic i prepared my apartment, the instructions were a little confusing and I was unable to contact anyone from the apartments or anyone from ARA exterminating and i got called out multiple times over the weekend causing more stress. this also made me have to take a day off of work at the last minute to make sure i was there when these people came into my home which created a hardship due to the fact I have only been with this new company roughly 5 months. I was also not consulted on the company used for extermination so i have no idea whether i was asked to pay a fair price or not. After being presented with a bill for 866$ I did a lot of research into bed bugs and went to the landlord and property manager with my findings and politely explained to them that since I had all new furniture when I moved here and they say there was no signs of bed bugs after the last tenant than it is impossible to place blame on either party and i proposed to split the bill with them thinking this was a fair way to treat the matter, I was immediately told the owner would not pay a dime for the extermination.

Renter Jan 12, 2013 74.197.192.15 1.this is an update on what has been going on since last i talked to landlord........i personally called the exterminating company and got price lowered due to how little is in my apartment, today 1/12/13 my landlord left a note on my door with a payment plan to pay them back for costs so at this point i feel she is avoiding me and i am at the point of feeling harassed and discriminated on for contacting third party help also there is still mold in my apt and she knows about it but it is a health hazard. finally there was a form i was supposed to sign acknowledging ARA was coming to spray my apt which i never signed.
