| COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
|
Moved into apartment 261 at Parkside Apartments last yr in May 2012. In September, inspection done on all apartments of the apartment complex. During inspection, it was determined our apartment had bed bugs and needed treatment. I tossed out my bed the next day. After following up with Leasing Manager, I was told that other apartments information is being collected and to wait in the mean time for notice of treatment. No information of invoice, charges, responsible party, or any other details were discussed. 2 Months later, notice was sent saying Bed Bug treatment will be performed on November 19 and to follow procedures. After a week or two, letter of invoice was sent to the apartment, stating that apparently we brought in bed bugs, and will be paying for treatments done to surrounding units as well. Hence charged for $1350. Another treatment done in Dec and and Jan 2013, where pest control company claims bed bugs present, and we were again charged $1700 on move-out costs. On request, Leasing manager did not provide any further details - invoices, inspections reports, treatments history, etc.
I don't know why we are asked to cover bed bug treatment costs specially since it took 2 months to settle the matter. Needed to be taken care of in timely manner to avoid further treatments.
