Recently, I had noticed I was being bitten numerous times at night while sleeping and located a dead bug bug on my sheets. To confirm the infestation I contacted my maintenance department, an exterminator was sent out to inspect my apartment, and confirm if my bed bug assumptions were true. Before and upon inspection I was never notified by management or maintenance that the costs associated with the extermination would be my responsibility to cover. The following day I was notified via letter that the treatments had been scheduled and I was responsible for making a $485.00 payment for services within 10 days. I was appalled by the thought of this because to the best off my knowledge the landlord is responsible for pest problems that can not be attributed to the tenant. I have been present in my residence for 7 months with no signs off bed bugs until now. Is it possible someone else in my building has bed bugs...yes, but no other areas or apartments in my building were inspected and I was held solely responsible for the matter.
