Over the past month or so, I have experienced excessive itching. At first I thought it was either a rash or eczema, so I started taking allergy medication and planned to see a doctor. Eventually, one night I was asleep in bed and felt something crawling on me, and at first I thought I was just imagining things, so I tried to go back to sleep. I woke up again around 2am, got out of bed and turned on the lights, revealing hundreds of bedbugs crawling throughout my bed and on my pillows. I proceeded to take photos and video footage of the infestation, and the following day (Fri, 6/07/13) I showed the representative in the on-site office. I was told that an exterminator would be contacted right away. The following Mon (6/10/13), I e-mailed video footage to the rep and was informed that the footage had been forwarded to the maintenance manager so that he could have the exterminator sent out ASAP. The exterminator came out on Wed (6/12/13) and confirmed the infestation. I was then given a list of tasks to complete prior to the first treatment which was scheduled for Sat (6/15/13). I was also explicitly told not to inform any of the other residents of the infestation. I was home when the exterminator came out to treat the unit. They sprayed my bedroom area, including the dresser drawers, baseboards, bedframe, and mattress. They also sprayed the baseboards in the living room area and my sofa. They did not steam or heat treat anything, nor did they treat the restroom or entryway. They also did not inspect nor treat any of the surrounding units, which I was informed would happen. Post-treatment (6/16/13), I returned to my unit and cleaned thoroughly. As per the exterminators suggestion, I also vacuumed the entire unit again, including the baseboards and all soft and hard furniture. I decided to spend the night in my unit, which quickly became obviously a big mistake. I was again covered by bedbugs, which I video recorded, and also noticed that not only were the bedbugs still crawling underneath the mattress cover provided by the exterminator, but also coming out of it. At this point, my apartment is absolutely uninhabitable and I have nowhere else to go. I have no family in the area and my friends are afraid I will bring bedbugs to their homes if I come to stay. I simply need someplace to sleep, to have my unit free of bedbugs and to have other nearby units inspected and treated, if only as a precaution.
