COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

My land lady is refusing to give me back my full rental deposit of $825. When I inspected the condo with her, she found no problems. Condo was given to her in a clean condition. After one week she emails me that she will cut some money for NORMAL WEAR and TEAR. The she sends me $500 out of $825. Since last week I have been calling and emailing her but she is not replying to emails or answering her phone. She has not given me any reason how she came up with the figure of $325.

Renter Aug 4, 2013 173.75.137.63 I really do not understand why are you mixing the security deposit with the $410 for showing the apartment. You really need to decide what are you deducting the money for. Initially you said the documents...then you came up with wear and tear...and now you are saying you payed me for showing the apartment. I would like to see the receipts for the repairs. I would like to offer you an alternative...pay me an additional $200 and then we can settle this. Rafay

Landlord Aug 4, 2013 184.152.41.185 Offer an Alternative Resolution.

Renter Jul 31, 2013 173.75.137.63 I certainly do not agree. She paid me $410 because I introduced new tenants to her condo. I made time out of my work to come and show people her condo, and for which she herself agreed to pay me $410. So this has nothing to do with the security deposit. If she is arguing damages…she needs to bring the receipt of the repairs that she did, that according to CT rental laws. Let me address every issue…what does she mean by smear at the door??...whatever there is that she is talking about had been always there…we cleaned it regularly…and she never pointed this when I inspected the condo with her. It if it is there…it just part of normal wear…she can’t charge me for that. 2. Laundry and refrigerator? Again if I broke something, then you can charge me….you cannot charge me because your refrigerator looks old, which was very old to begin with. 3. Some of my documents have been lost through while I store my belongings in my storage room with his belongings…..Well when I rented the condo. I rented the basement with it. As a courtesy to her…I allowed her to keep her belongings there. Repeatedly after moving I asked her to clean her basement. And she herself cleaned her stuff… If something is lost…I had nothing to do with it. She always had the key and access whenever she wanted…so after 2 years she can’t blame me if she can’t find her documents. 4) He punched several holes on the walls with nails, so he could hang his things…….Well again the nails were there when I moved in…I had pointed it this out to her when I moved in. So they were already there. 5) He put several plastic hook hangers on my kitchen wall. He can hang his things. They are hard to remove….Again I did not put any new hooks. All those hooks were there. I had again pointed her out when I moved in. And I really don’t see how she is having difficulty removing plastic hooks. 6) There shouldn’t be a cabinet being secured on the wall of the bathroom. He should ask for my permission before he can secure a cabinet onto my bathroom’s wall. The wall in the bathroom, where he secured the cabinet, has some dark marks in the area where his cabinet was locked onto…….No the wall was dark before I put it in. There were racks with huge hooks in the bathroom before I moved in. I just placed the cabinet in place of the rack. Dark marks??....i cleaned everything and showed it to her before moving out. She was OK with it then. And it is normal wear. 7) The door to the balcony has been somewhat damaged. It has several scratches due his two period of usage…..what is somewhat damage???....again normal wear and tear….I did not damage the door in anyway. So there is literally nothing…other than normal wear and tear on a very old condo. If she still has issues….I will take her to court. I have already sent out my complaint. According to CT law she will end up paying twice the security deposit and court fees.
