COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
We have experienced bed bugs in our apartment since June 1, 2013. The leasing office's exterminator has been out on two separate occasions stating that there were no issues with the unit and that it was not "inhabitable". After several weeks of not being able to communicate with the leasing office, I spoke with the assistant manager, Amy, and was told that on Monday July 1, 2013 that we could transfer to another apartment in a different building after we paid a $250.00 deposit and $175.00 administrative fee on Saturday July 6, 2013.. I dropped off the check for $425.00 on Tuesday morning and tried for the next several days to get in contact with the leasing office to make sure the transfer was all ready to go. I was finally able to talk to someone (Jill who is an employee in the leasing office) on Friday July 5, 2013 and we were told that everything was ready and to show up after 12:00 PM on Saturday July 6, 2013 to get the keys. We showed up that afternoon and Jill told us that we were not allowed to move into the new apartment without paying fees that we were not told about before hand that included $300.00 Lease transfer fee, $250.00 pet deposit fee, carpet damage fees, as well as the $425.00 already given to the office. Annalise and myself were not able to pay this large amount and I requested to speak directly with Stephanie (the person who came up with all of these extra charges) to try to come to some kind of resolution. We contacted Orkin Extermination to solve the issue and they not only found bed bugs in our apartment, but also carpet beetles and we later found cockroaches as well.I brought all of this to the attention of the office on Tuesday July 16, 2013 and requested yet again to speak with Stephanie. Jill called me later that night and told me that they could not work around our work schedule to get the apartment exterminated by the contracted exterminator and I have yet to hear anything since.
As of now we have the following evidence:
Sticky traps with proof of bed bugs, carpet beetles, and cockroaches
A copy of the form given to me stating that we only needed to pay $425.00 to transfer units
A copy of the email sent to management
A copy of the original check given on July 2, 2013
Copies of all three hospital bills from the three separate trips made to the doctor's office including treatment for an infection
A document from an Orin Exterminator stating that there are bed bugs in the apartment
Pictures of the bites received by Annalise

REFUSED RESOLUTION: The Landlord or Manager has REFUSED to resolve this complaint. The RPA has made beyond reasonable efforts to work with the Landlord / Manger to find a resolution to the complaint. Management has refused all reasonable measures to resolve this complaint. Due to the unwillingness from management , the RPA has no choice but to close this case with a negative disposition. Case Closed. |
