A letter has been written outlining the issue around constant noise disrupting baby nap and sleeping hours from: a) the running and jumping toddlers in apartment above (this complaint was already made in December last year), mostly from 4-8pm (my babies go to bed at 6 and cannot sleep). Whilst it is currently quiet due to those tenants being away for the summer, the jumping, running and toy throwing will inevitably return once they are back. There is no evidence that any action has been taken by the tenant to address the issue. Speaking directly to tenant has proven unsuccessful. b) repeated gut renovation works (from conversions from former rent controlled apartments) causing extremely loud banging and drilling noises all day long without a break (8.30-5pm usually) - currently the renovation work is taking place 2 floors below our apartment and severely reverberating through the floors and walls. It has not been possible to get our 10 months old babies to nap at all during the day (we have to take them out in the stroller to achieve that and this is only possible on good weather days). This is making my twins unwell and very ill tempered (constant screaming). At this age babies need 2-3h of napping per day. A request has been made to the landlord to ask the builder to respect 2 nap hours at specific times - so far there has been no change in the noise levels at those times. At a rent of almost $7000 per month, it is not unreasonable to expect a ' healthy & liveable' environment' for children and adults. We have already gone away for a week to escape the noise, incurring nanny costs for nothing, this is not a sustainable situation.
