COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
Landlord moved ex-husband and daughter when they lost their apartment into the small house where I was renting a room and when her septic tank overflowed and the toilet (in my little toilet and sink room) broke around the first of June she blamed me for the damage. She would not repair broken toilet or flooded floor with mold developing till I made a complaint to the Environmental Health Department. She finally fixed the toilet and had a receipt for Mold Inspection around July 17, 2014. Only then did I feel it was safe to stay in my room. The smell, the flooded and moldy floor and I was not able to open the windows because there is no screen to the bedroom window, half a screen in the toilet room and no screen to the back door. Right outside my window and door is wet vegetation that attracts mosquitoes and all kinds of other bugs. The front door left open leaves me no privacy and opens to her house which after June 1, 2014 she forbade me to enter and I could not get any of my things from the kitchen, laundry room or take a shower which is part of her bathroom. Initially she permitted me the use of the entire house even gave me designated cupboard space in the kitchen and space in her refrigerator and freezer but when her family moved in it became too crowded. The ex-husband has his things in the living room. It was supposed to be temporary. She was told about the screens, exhaust from heater vent, no lighting to driveway or walkway to my back entrance and to stop trespassing in my room and her daily harassment. She also discriminated against my disabled son when she refused my request to have him stay for a few days in only my room on May 29, 2014.
