COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

On February 26, 2015 my family and I vacated 1032 S. Bedford St. Apt. 1. Under California law, Mr. Beron had 21 days in which to notify me of any valid deductions from my security deposit and refund all unused funds. The time period has now passed. To date, I have not received an itemized list of deductions from my security deposit nor received a check refunding the security deposit. Mr Beron is now obligated under California law to pay me the amount of my security deposit plus double the deposit amount for retaining the security deposit in bad faith under California Civil Code §1950.5(l). Mr. Beron should return the amount of the security deposit ($1,703.00) to me plus the statutory penalty ($3,406.00) for a total of $5,109.00.
