COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

We complained to our landlord on Sunday, May 3rd that we had been experiencing bites on and off and finally found bed bugs on and around our bed. We have been waiting for almost a month to get this resolved and taken care of. When we first talked with our landlord she said the complex will pay for it if the exterminator determines if it came from the apartment. However, she said if they determine that it did not come from the apartment, we would be responsible to pay for it. Our landlord set up the inspection for Thursday, May 14. The inspection was not necessary as we provided the exterminator, Jorge, with live specimens to prove that we indeed have bed bugs. The exterminator told us that it is impossible to determine where the bed bugs had originated from. With that being said, we were still unsure as to who was going to pay and take care of this. Days later, we never heard from our landlord or the exterminator to discuss what would happen next. At this point, we bought bed bug sprays and traps to try and deal with the problem ourselves since our landlord had not contacted us. A few days later, we contacted the landlord and she denied hearing from the exterminator and assumed that the bugs had been taken care of. From here, we have been in disagreement on who is responsible to pay for the extermination. We believe that the complex should take care of the extermination. We got the contact information of our landlord\\\'s manager to discuss this further and have still made no progress. The manager wants another appointment with the exterminator to determine the severity of the infestation and to also determine how the bed bugs came about. We think this is pointless as the exterminator already told us that it is impossible to determine. This has been a battle of who should pay and we do not feel we are responsible and believe the complex should pay for the treatments necessary for extermination.
