I lived in Ms. Brown\'s rental home at 2238 Glenwood Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 from approximately February 2005 until May 2015. In ten years; I can count the times on one hand when my rent was sent in late.
Mid - June of 2015, I called the office of Keller Williams Reality where Ms. Belle worked as Ms. Brown’s property manager. I called to ask when I would be receiving my security deposit of $895 back. I found out from Ms. Belle, the money had been given to the owner already; it had been about two weeks after I left. Ms. Belle stated to me that I didn\'t give 30 day notice and that\\\'s why I won\\\'t get my deposit back. I assured her that I and Ms. Lentz (Assistant property manager at the time) had discussed in February 2015 about (my lease ending in March 2015) going month to month for April and May 2015, since I would be moving out May 31,2015.
August 7, 2015, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Colorado Springs, CO, case # 37037145, telling them I am unable to get my security deposit back. I uploaded proof of giving my 30 day notice. August 26, 2015, while reading a response statement about the claim, it was revealed that Ms. Belle wasn\'t managing the property any longer.
October 12, 2015, the case was closed due to, they were standing their ground about not returning the deposit, per owners’ request. Furthermore, Keller Williams Realty had been released from the property as well.
November 2, 2015, I sent Ms. Brown a certified, seven day demand letter and the same letter through regular mail. Tracking showed she picked it up on November 5, 2015. I waited until November 11, 2015, but she didn\'t respond.
Ms. Brown has avoided all attempts to come to some type of agreement, by not responding to the claim with the BBB, the seven day demand letter, and a mediation that was offered through the BBB.
This has caused an extreme financial burden for me and my family, due to the fact that, I used every penny I had, to move from CO to NC. I have struggled and still are struggling to make ends meet daily.
