COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

On Sunday, March 5, 2017, I agreed to sign the rental lease with the expectation that the apartment would be in perfect condition to move in. I went ahead and invested in a new mattress, bed frame, furniture and floor carpet you can find the receipts attached. On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, I notice 3-6 bedbugs crawling on the kitchen floor, bathroom tub and clothes. Attached you can find pictures and videos I recorded of them. I informed my manager Jeff right away. Over the past days, I have suffered emotional distress and had to get rid and wash all of my personal belongings. Due to such hazardous habitable premises, I am asking you to break the contract without penalty. I only ask to get reimbursed both my first month\'s rent, down payment, and cost of the damages done to my personal belonging. I was not informed that the unit had bedbugs, should I have known, I would not have signed the lease. Furthermore, I have found roaches and cracks on the walls. I have spoken to other tenants and they also face the same issues (roaches, bedbugs). I am very disappointed in the lack of care this company has for their tenants and the unhabitable units they provide. I have email and reached out to both my manager and the management company and have not heard back from them in the past week. I am concern that even if they fix this problem, 3 months later I find bed bugs again and have to get rid of my belongings and pay for the treatment given they do not cover this expense. At this point, I do not feel safe nor want to live in such conditions.
