I am also in the same position! Ugh they are making it so difficult to get out. When you are initially signing the lease they make it seem like you must hurry because spaces are going fast and there is going to be no room left. I have not moved in yet and barely signed my lease last month. When I try to call and come to a solution, they are very unhelpful! I tried to explain to them that my grandmother had a heart attack and that I could no longer move to Albuquerque for school and that I could also not afford it since my grandmother was my guarantor, but they didn't care. John did you ever find someone to take over your daughters lease? Also as John asked above, does anyone know what will happen if you cannot pay them?

It is extremely difficult to get out if this lease. moved in at the start of the school year and it is not a great place to live for students. I agree that the staff is extremely unprofessional and don't know what they're doing. They're pretty rude and only care about taking your money. I had the same thing happen to me when I asked for a copy of my lease! I asked for the paper I signed to renew my lease for 2012-2013 and the girl had no idea what I was talking about. She as well wanted to give me a blank copy of the lease. They make it seem like so many people want to live there and you need to sign your lease ASAP to save you a space but what they won't tell you is that there are more people trying to get out of that place than there are people wanting to live there. Good luck getting out of your lease!

I signed a lease at Lobo Village in October of 2011 and by December I wanted out. It is a great idea and a beautiful place, but it isn't ideal for serious students who actually want to focus on school. There is a lot of partying and the majority of the staff there are immature and worthless. They have kids working there and they don't know what they're doing. I don't believe that most of the staff were properly trained, and when I needed to break my lease they were very rude and not at all helpful. I had to constantly dig for information on something that should have been simpler. Also, when I had asked for a copy of my lease they wouldn't give me one. Instead, they just gave me a blank copy of a lease. I asked them why I couldn't have a copy of mine and they said that they couldn't do it until the manager was there. It's also extremely unorganized when you get set up and just paying my rent online was an entire ordeal because they hadn't put my name into the system after I had moved in. I used craigslist to advertise my room and was able to find someone after about a month of posting consistently. Unfortunately, there is a fee for breaking the lease and it isn't their responsibility to find someone to take over a lease. When I was in the middle of trying to find someone who would take over my lease, I noticed that there were dozens of others in my position. I would say to post as often as you can on any free websites and advertise it to seem like an amazing deal, just like Lobo Village does.
