Yep, renters insurance should cover your things. If you don’t have it you might be screwed. I see that all the time where people don’t get renters insurance and try to get their landlord to cover the cost of replacing their stuff.

I live in a rental that had a water leak too. I think my renters insurance covered my belongings and the property itself was covered by my landlords policy.

Anyone can sue anyone. But it doesn’t mean you should.

I agree… there are other options you should choose before suing your landlord. If there is a some sort of neglect then maybe; but even then I would probably try other options first.

Yes, you can sue your landlord. But that can take time and money. If you are looking to find a fast solution why not just file a formal complaint with the RPA? I had an attorney that told me I should first do that before suing my landlord over another unrelated problem. I never had to use the attorney.
