The question on the "proper renters credit" will only be answered by the judge in a small claims court. If you don't want to get to that, you can always discuss the possibility of a rent reduction with your landlord. Do not withhold your rent without going to the Clerk of Court; otherwise, your LL could evict you and that will go against your credit score. If your LL does not cooperate with you, file a complaint against him. The RPA can help you.
