Black mold can have lasting effects on your health, so it is important to solve the problem. Mold problems are common and can be resolved by your landlord. I've dealt with mold problems due to flooding before and can say that one of the most important things to do is to properly dry the apartment. That will require industrial de-humidifiers. If your landlord failed to do that you are almost guaranteed to have a long-term mold problem.

Flooded apartments are frustrating, but you do have rights. If you can't work it out with your landlord (which it sounds like is happening) then, you should probably protect your rights by filing a complaint with the Rental Protection Agency. Most likely that will be what you will need to do to enforce your rights. (there is a link to the complaint form in the menu.)
