Did you ever find out who is responsible? Did you owe rent while you were in the hotel? and were you able to get your deductbile reimbursed? My rent is due and I am getting ready to send her letter stating I will not be paying the rent this month due to these expenses, but I don’t want to get evicted or taken to court and look stupid because I had no right to do it. I did contact a lawyer and did tell me to send the landlord a letter and deduct, the rent for only the time we could not live in the house, the additional utility bills and my deductible. I would feel better with another opinion, since the lawyer charges $195.00 an hour I can’t afford to retain him if my landlord does try to evict us or take us to court. Please post how you made out.
