As per privacy purposes, landlords will not be releasing info about tenants that occupies his units. But then again as mentioned above the it’s your right to know since it’s concerning about your safety too. You can do either the RPA Landlord Verification System or the Roommate Screening.

However, you have right to verify this information by checking the address through the Rental Protection Agencies Landlord verification system, or you can do a sex offender search through your states Sex Offender Registry.
