I have no written lease with my landlord. I am paying $150 a month right now. My 23 year old daughter has moved in with me because of serious family problems. My landlord immediately raised my rent to more than double because of this. I now have to pay $400 a month. My question is can he legally do this just because my daughter my own family member has moved in.

You can still file a landlord complaint with the Rental Protection Agency. By doing so you will open a case against the landlord that will be mediated by Investigating Agent. If the mediation efforts are not a succes, you can then use the RPA Case as additional proof against your landlord.
