black mold

By monica pierce

I moved into a new apt in my complex a few month ago, right after having my new baby who is now 4 months old.  I have discovered black mold growing around my vents.  What made me to begin looking around is my baby, myself and my fiance have all developed breathing problems and seem to be constantly sick!  I realized the mold is what is causing my family’s health issues because when I went to GA to visit my mom we all miraculously were cured from any breathing/sinus issues we had.  My baby even gets red sploches all over him.

I have reported it to the complex and they just ignore it.  I am not sure who to call or where to go.  Ideally, I want to just get my deposit back, and out of my lease so I can move at the beginning of the next month and begin to get better.

Hi there Monica.. We actually have few grounds for you to terminate the lease, one of these if you are having hardships if the agreement will continue. You can also terminate the agreement for lease if the area/premises are not fit for habitation. What you can do is you can give written notice to terminate the tenancy . You must give 2 days notice, in this way you can get your money back and find a better place for you to stay. 😉
