Black Mold In Our Apartment

By Paul

I have been living in my apartment for 5 months now and have noticed small black mold on walls that we had just cleaned up and finally came home to black mold on my walls. we informed the landlord and they said they have the right to clean it. I spoke to service men  and they said that for mold removal, only cleaning is not enough, the walls have to be torn down and everyone has to be out. Once I told this to my landlord they did not do anything but  let us out of our lease . Now, my question is whether  we will be able to get our security deposits back since the insurance company said it was no way our fault and we are entitled to our money back except for rent for occupying?

Black mold is real concern for tenants to stay in that house, as this can contact disease or some illness to the renter, I hope you have paid your rents on time and now can ask your apartment owner to pay for the cleaning and fixing of mold issue.
Tell him that you also spoke to servpro people and inform him what did they tell you and it’s consequences. If you owner of the apartment does not revert back to you with any resolution, take the help of RPA. this agency deals very well with mold problems. File a complaint with them. the charge is very less 35$ and they care of rest things like contacting your landlord and document works, which you can also keep as a proof for further action against landlord. https://www.rentalprotectionagency.com/complaint_center_form.php filing a complaint link. I have heard of many people’s issue where RPA solved the problem without landlords retaliation. goodluck
