This is gonna sound crazy…

Overview:

I received a letter from the owner of the condo I am renting stating that he had not received my rent for the last two months from the Property Management company.

He thinks the Property Manager is using he money for herself.

He tells me not to pay next month until he figures out what is going on.

I don’t hear from him or her for three weeks.

Next thing I know I’m served with an Unlawful Detainer in the owner’s name. I call him about it and I find out

He didn’t file it – she did,

He had already received the payment referenced in the UD – because SHE PAID IT OUT OF HER OWN POCKET.

Case was dismissed and never presented before a judge.

Since then she has filed another frivolus UD again for money I had already paid her.

I now have a 60 Day Notice to Terminate Tenancy. I think it is retaliation. Can anyone help me?Is there anything I can do to stop this 60 Day Notice?

Signed,
Stuck in the Middle

I have rented out a room in this house that belongs to this lady. She has rented out two other rooms so there are several tenants in this house. My biggest concern is that at night my landlady needs to have the latch on the door, even though she has an alarm system. I would end up going home at night and can’t open the door all the way because of the latch and set off the alarm system. It would take several minites for the landlady to come downstairs, turn off the alarm first, and then open the door for me. She would tell me to give her a call any time but why on earth do I need to call to get into my own place? I hate waiting there either way since it’s dark and I can’t seem to access a safe haven as needed.

I’m not sure where my rights would be in this situation cause there are times I work late and I travel a long way to and from where I this house.

I moved in my new apartment a few months ago with a year’s lease and a Section 8 Housing Voucher. After dealing with having food thrown at me from the third floor apartment on a regular basis, an explosion and fire at a neighboring apartment, countless police activity and a pitbull that is allowed to run loose for hours on the property, I am asking to get out of my lease and have written the company requesting they do so. I also notified them weeks ago that I wanted them to try and rent the apartment and they have ignored all my requests. Aren’t they supposed to be trying to rent the apartment and are they legally bound to abide by city ordinance and do something about a dangerous dog at large, continually, on the property (that belongs to a resident?) I am moving and can’t even stay there–do I have recourse for them to let me out of the lease?

I live in a residential property that is managed by a management group, so my landlord is essentially not just one person, it’s a company. I have experienced no heat since the beginning of October, flooded kitchen sinks, and my water being shut off 4 times in the past month and a half, amoung other issues. Anyway, I finally contacted 311 and filed a complaint with the operator, who is sending out an inspector to investigate the issues. I am not the only tenant in the complex who is going through the exact same problems. It is many residents. My question is, is it against the law for me to tell other tenants to file complaints with 311 against the landlord, either verbally or written? I would appreciate an answer because I would like to advise other residents to complain in order to finally get these issues resolved!

Thank you!

Ok I am living at an apartment complex that has changed property managers like 3 times. I am a single mother who pays her bills on time everytime. I reviously paid the previous property manager all my bills. She walked off the job recently and has yet to return. The new manager has informed me that the previous manager did not put in all my electricity bills. She allowed me to transfer from my 1bedroom to my new bedroom. Now that I am in my new 2 bedroom, she informed me that I have a 500 dollar balance from the 1bedroom. She also sent me an eviction letter saying i needed to pay. OMG! I did pay. I do not owe and I am not willing to pay twice for a bill that is already paid. What should I do. She wont accept my on time rent for this month. I have called coperate and she is on vacation until Friday. This situation is so unfair. This new management company is bullying a few elderly tenants as well. We are not happy with being bullied.

Frustrated Tenant,
