Dad hospitalized Landlord wants rent

By Kristina

My father suffered a huge heartattack leaving him in the ICU with short term memory loss, a breathing tube and many other problems. He pays rent on a weekly basis and his landlord knows the situation but is threatening to evict my father if rent is not paid. There is no lease agreement. So leagally what steps does the landlord need to take in order to evict my father? Can we do anything to prevent this from happening?
