However, if you have good credit record then there&#039;s a way to still get that apartment because some landlords would consider it if one of you has a stellar credit score and if you can prove your ability to pay the monthly rent. With regard to the intensity of the background check, that would depend on your landlord. Some landlords would only check 5 years back while others won&#039;t. Some would only look at the rental history and credit score while others would also run identity and criminal record checks.
