If I still live in the rental after the lease has ended do I have to resign for the lease to still be in effect?

By cj

We have lived in the rental for almost 3 years but our lease agreement ended after a year. We have had several problems with getting things repaired and wondering if the house is even up to code. Our landlord is trying to charge us a late fee if our rent isnt paid on time of $50 a day. I agreed to that in the lease but if the lease ended after a year can he still chrage the late fee?

Technically that lease has ended and so as the fees along with. I think there’s need of you guys to have some cup of coffee or something and sit down and agree on something. or you might want to file a complaint through RPA that should wake your landlord up.

If you still have pending payments, even if your lease ends. You need to pay for it. So your landlord will not sue you. You can also talk with him to settle things for good. Just ask him nicely.
