So its ok for our land lord to spend all day texting myself and my wife at work trying to get rent when weve already made it clear that we dont have it and if you read my comment again youll see im not trying to place blame im clearly trying to work with her after we got a notice that eviction will occur in 30 days. We were not informed about this until the last minute. The ethical thing for a landlord to do is notify the tenant that their not making payment any more and they should expect such news, especially one that has been a good and faithfully on time paying tenant such as I that has tolerated the owners failed verbal promises of finishing putting the siding on the back of the house, allowing them to store their unwanted belongings that half fill my garage for a year, and in the shed as well, not finishing the restoration inside the house as promised. All of this was promised to be done within a month after we moved in and its been nothing but "well get to it" and never showong up.But they sure can be found when the rent needs to be paid.

It sounds like you need to read over your lease agreement. You most likely agreed to pay the monthly rent amount without exception. The only time you can legally not pay rent is when the unit has habitability issues, which in your case doesn't apply.

As for landlord harassment... I don't see the connection. The landlord is not harassing you, they are tying to collect a debt. The facts are that you are in default and CAN be held responsible. The landlord has right to start the eviction process after being just 1 day late. I doubt your landlord will let you go a month or so without paying rent. If I ever have a tenant that is more than 10 days late I start the eviction process. If you can't pay rent by the 10th, then you can't afford to rent there.

My suggestion is to cooperate with your landlord and to stop blaming them for you not being able to pay on-time. (Just a reality check, sorry)
