Did you rent the apartment with your pet? If you did and there are pet stains or urine smell on the carpet then you must pay for the carpet but not the entire amount of the carpet though you are only required to pay for the pro-rated amount of the carpet's remaining life existence. For example if the carpet has a life expectancy of 4 years when you moved in and you moved out after 3 years and 10 months then there are damages made to the carpet that needs replacing then you are only required to pay the pro-rated amount of the 2 months left on the carpet's life. Your landlord must also present you with an invoice or receipt of the carpet. If he cannot present you with those then he cannot ask nor demand that you pay for the carpet replacement. If that happen then you file a complaint with the RPA through this link http://www.rentalprotectionagency.com/complaint_center.php?id=51dd308610038
