My shower door busted. i have NO idea how. I thought it was from the extreme heat my apartment holds and i was out of town for the weekend, came home and found it shattered. Apparently this is unreasonable, and my landlord wants to charge me for the damage. OK fine, but my uncle is a licensed plumber and can replacing a door at no costs to me, but my land lord is being shify about that. Why should I have to PAY (people she found) when I can get it done w/o costs to me. (especially when i feel i’m not even responsible) HELP

When I went to go pay my april rent they were rude and told me then my check had not cleared for march .Ipayed then for my rent for both months I asked why i was not told they said they did not have a number on file for me .I have moved out as of may and now they are trying to charge me a 200 dollar late fee for march can they do this I feel im all payed up on all my rent I feel they should have given me a notice when they did not get the rent for march. These landlord charges seem way offline and not fair. The way my apartment billing is set-up is unethical!

My landlord just posted on my door that beginning November they are going to start charging 10 dollars a day for rent past due I was just wondering if this is legal for them to do or not. I kind of figure it is but I just wanted to make sure before I filed a complaint. Also another question in the contract it says you recieve free cable. I have lived here for over a year now and in the past 3 months have lost 3 channels. I guess my question is should they be responsible for getting them channels back working or as long as you still have one channel is it considered legal being that it is free and they dont state what channels are free.

Hi:

I had leased a studio in Boston for 6 months. At move out time, I had sent the landlord an email with pictures documenting that I had left the apartment clean (the landlord lives out of state and does not employ amanagement company to oversee the apartment). The landlord just sent me an email saying that he would be deducting a “cleaning fee” from my security deposit. My lease did not specify such a fee. And given that I have proof that the apartment was cleaned at the time of move out (which was sent to him). Can the landlord do this?.

I moved from a house that me and my husband rented for 12 years. I gave the required 30 day notice to landlord. The day after moving I met with the landlord at the house to return the keys and do a walk through. All seemed to be o.k. A week later the landlord sends a condition report to me saying the house was dirty and grimy with smoke damage. The lease agreement does not say that i could not smoke in the house. The landlord has been to the house many times for needed repairs but never once say anything about smoking in the house. Now the landlord wants to charge for cleaning everything for smoke damage.Per the letter i recieved , walls, light fixtures, air vents, blinds etc. , must be cleaned using special cleaners and will take extra labor hours to clean.(What are special cleaners anyway?)I cleaned the house before moving out.I dusted the blinds, swept and mopped the floors and baseboards throughout the house, and cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen, and appliances and shampooed the 2 carpets in the house .I consider this a basic cleaning most renters would do when moving out. One of the carpets in the report i was sent said possibly ruined.I wonder about 12 years of wear and tear on carpet. Also some items I am being charged for are removal of a birds nest. (where it was I have no idea.),and landscaping in the yard which was approved by landlord.Once again during the walk through none of these things were mentioned to me as needing to be removed or cleaned .I was never shown a condition report or signed anything after doing the walk through. The letter I recieved from the landlord now states that my deposit(deposit was 850.00) will be retained along with other charges up to 1500.00 for cleaning and sanitation of the property to bring it back to the condition it was in when i moved in.As of this date I have not seen any reciepts as to work that has been done to the house. What recourse does a tenant have against eroneous charges I believe to be false.

hi, i’m living in chicago and trying to move out this week.

we have moving in, ,moving out fee which is $300

the office told me that if i separate the moving out time with my subleaser on same day, i can just pay 150,

so, i made reservation time on saterday (9-12), and i was going to use 1hour and my subleaser going to use 2hours after me.

and. yesterday, i moved out part of my stuffs because my friend who has a car would like to help me move out before my moving day, so i checked out the cart from apartment and i moved out four traveling bags and few small boxes (it was less than 6 boxes so i can put all in the cart )

but my landlord called me and told that office send her a email to her that i moved out. so i should pay $300.and i also must pay another $300 if i have additional stuff to move out. are they kidding?!!!!!!!!!!!! it’s not understandable. really,,

first, i didn’t even move out many things, and i still have a lot of things to move out. yesterday, in the morning i moved out my traveling bags which has wheels on the bottom and took a cap to go to new place. and afternoon, when my friend came, i only carry things that i could put in the SUV (no furniture, only boxes). i didn’t even carry out my office chair. i thought that it would be not consider as moving out, because i used cart to carry out boxes and didn’t even put down boxes on the floor.

can it be consider as moving out? it is, they should charge me $300 whenever i go to ikea. and whenever i go to travel. and even whenever i got a delievery from my grocery store.

can somebody help me? should i must pay additional $300 for moving out?

I rent the aprtment, and registered the car with a parking permit. Now, I change a new car, the rental ‘s office asked for registration. After I show both car’s registration (same name, but not my name), they refused to give me back a parking permit (they charge for parking permit too $20). They said that their apartment parking rules require the car to be in my name. Can my property manager do that?
