Can a landlord charge a $200 move-out processing fee?

Can a landlord in Minnesota charge a $200 move-out processing fee?  Also, I have submitted in writing to the landlord about things that need to be fixed in my apartment and nothing has been fixed.  My windows have even been painted shut and I have asked for these to be fixed since I moved in.  What kind of recourse do I have if any now that I am moving out?

I’ve never heard of a move-out processing fee.  So your landlord is trying to charge you $200 just for moving; I’d say that’s bogus on unlawful.  All the rent law books talk about the landlord right to charge a deposit for items that are damaged beyond normal wear and tear.

I would argue with your landlord about paying a processing fee.  Don’t pay it!!
