Breaking lease and excessive fees
By Leslie
I’m having to relocate for work and gave the rental mangement company 2 months notice this past week. I plan to move out at the end of Janauary but my lease doesn’t expire until the end of April. The management company is charging me a fee of one half’s month rent ($645), plus I have to continue paying rent, utlities, landscaping, and advertising cost until the home is re-rented. That means I could end up paying an additional 3 months of rent after I move out of the home. This seems unreasonable to me. Is this typical when breaking a lease?
