mouse problems

For the second year now, we have mice.  The landlord brought over some flimsy traps when we moved in and said that mice are just part of country living, and laughed about it.  We live 3 miles out of town in a mobile home.  Is there anything we can do to make this guy do whatever is necessary to get rid of these things?  I grew up in the country and we never had one mouse, ever.
