unfair repair cost from apartment complex

Hello,

 My name is Skylar Reyes and I recently moved out of Overlook at Lindbergh apartments. My dog damaged the carpet in my room which needed to be replaced but the rest of the apartment was fine. The apartment complex is charging me for the replacement of the entire carpet in the apartment. Are they allowed to do this?
