Problem Landlord

Our sink has been broken and we called the landlord continuously and he never showed for 6 months! After he "fixed it" we ran the water and it still was broken. We have been calling texting everything. It has been 2 1/2 weeks and still he has not fixed it. We’ve been doing dishes in our bath tub! As well as no smoke detectors in the main complex itself. And no lighting in the stairway and I live on the 3rd floor. We have drug dealers in our complex I have called police 4 times. As well as complained to landlord he says he can’t do anything. Can we break lease? We are just mortified and I hate to keep my 2 year old in this environment any longer!
