I wanted to ask you for some advise i’m renting an apartment and my husband and i notice we have mold in our bathroom wall that its about to fall. I called Monday 10/4 about three times to get some one to check it out the lady told me the guy was busy from the calls over the weekend, i told her that someone needed to come right away because this was an emergancy. They came saw the wall and said they will be calling me to make an appointment to take down the wall. I called back Wednesday because no one called me back and ask the same lady when they were going to call me back same thing happened. She told me someone will be there thursday at 9am to fix the wall. They came and just looked at the wall again and told my husband that the wall just needed grout and my husband told them no that they needed to take the wall down to see how far the mold has gone. Ive been sick for about 6months thinking it was allergies and now that we found the mold i think its the mold making me sick.I want to know what should i do next. There supposed to come Tuesday 10/12 to fix the wall. | |||

There are a lot of different types of apartment molds. Most of them are harmless. Just because mold is black doesn’t mean that it is toxic mold. Commonly you hear people freak out about finding black mold. While, yes, the toxic strain of mold is black / greenish in color so are thousands of other mold strains which are not toxic. In rare cases you could have a toxic mold problem which would give you right to terminate your lease if not taken care of. However, 99% of molds are not the toxic strain, so most likely you have common mold. Common mold can cause some irritation or allergies. |
