Breaking a year lease that has been notarized

By Emma

what are california penalties and rules for breaking a lease early?  what is california law to pay for breaking a lease?  some people say you have to pay the rest of the term others say just a month im not sure which one to believe.  can someone clear this up for me.  also if there is nothing in the lease about breaking a lease how would that affect me?  any other information would be great as well legally what the landlord can and cannot do and what steps i should take in order to get my name off the lease.

Talk to your landlord first. If he’s reasonable enough, he’ll actually let you go without any hassles. But if he’s bad news to you, there’s nothing any better than seeking legal advice.
