Can I renew my lease without my Ex and force him to move out?

My boyfriend and I signed a lease that is up in 10 days.  Things have turned sour and he has gotten very abusive verbally to me which makes me scared to leave the apt in fear of what he will do to my belongings.
Currently I am sleeping on the couch while he sleeps in our bedroom with the door locked.
Can I renew the lease without him and then force him to move out?
He says we are over and will move but hasn’t.  I have put the utilities in my name as I was fearful he would turn them off in me.
Help … I just want him gone!!!

Hi. Regarding the lease, you can renew the lease by yourself as far as i know. But you need to talk to your boyfriend regarding him moving out. Because the contract will be out with your personal issues. Just wait for ten days until you can renew for the lease and talk to your boyfriend that he needs to move out since the lease will be renewed under one person only in the apartment. 😀

If your ex is abusing you then you can report him to the police if you want. Also about the lease yes it can be renewed with just one person, you can inform your landlord that you want to stay but want the apartment alone. Then inform your ex about.
