Can my Landlord…………..

By Tammy

Can my landlord control my mail?  When we moved in we sign a form (from the USPS) saying who will receive mail at my address.  My landlord said she had to do it to. Is that true?  Then she said the local postmaster calls her when he has a question about MY mail.  I say bologna. But is that true?  I know she has checked my mail because she aked my if my son still gets mail at my address.  She would only know that if she checked.  We finally had to get a P.O. Box.  We had neighbors say the landlord was poking in our box, when they where suppose to be fixing our roof.

No, that is definitely incorrect. That is mail fraud, he can get into trouble for tampering any mail. What you can do here is not to authorize him for any package that will be delivered, you can go to your local post office and talk with the local post master. You can also get a locking mailbox, ask the post master how to do it.
