Can my landlord take my money?!

By Crystal

Ok so when i moved into my apartments, i had to leave the lights in there name until i paid my deposit. Well after i got the light switched into my name, they hit me with a bill of 166.95 for a week. Well come to find out in my lease it says they can charge me a fee of 50 dollars. Oh well, its in my lease,so ok. But what gets me is, i complained and complained about things that need to be fixed in my apt. It took them over 3 months to give me a rack for my OVEN! So after i went and compained to the manager i started getting letters on my door saying i was late on my rent. So i go to the office with my reciete in hand, and she tells me…basically she can take my money and put it where she see’s fit. Which means! what she did was take the 166.95 out of the 500 i paid for rent. To pay the light bill, which in returned made me "late" on rent because i "didnt" pay in full. so she got to hit me up for an extra 75 dollars + 10 dollars a day until i paid in full. I told her i didnt agree with what she did & to take me to court. I want a judge to tell me how that is leagel! Well 3 months later after shes been billing me over and over for late fees she finally takes me to court. And the judge tells her that unless i did NOT pay my RENT or was in vialation of my lease he CAN NOT eviect me. And that the money for the light bill will have to be handle in Small claims court…well when i tried to call my  manager of my apt. she basically told me I STILL had to pay the 668+ all late fees still! When i told her that i was not paying that out rages amount and that the judge even told even told her that she filed in the wrong court, she is still telling me she is going to evecit me. and that i will have 30 days to get out of "HER" apartments! i need help, i have  no idea what i should do. Take her to court? is she wrong or am I? if anyone can help me out that would be great!

Taking it to court would mean extra money to cash out. Maybe it’ll help if you guys just talk in a peaceful manner. Look over the lease and sort it out. Or here, you can file a complaint against your landlord through RPA.
