can they do that?

By Jamie

I have lived in a MHP for approximately 5 years in Indiana. I have seen at least 7-10 managers as well as maintenance people come through and with each one the “rules” seem to change. I have repeatedly asked for a current lease that has my name only on it since there was a bit of a legal dispute the first year that I lived there as to who would keep the home, myself or an ex-boyfriend. I asked many times for this in the first year after the judgment was final and never received one. Yes I asked for it in writing as well as verbally. My current situation is one that yesterday when I came home from work there was a list of things on my door for me to do within a 2 and 10 day time frame at which time I would be “re-inspected” The 2 day list consisted of mowing (it’s march and honestly if I mow I may never have grass this summer) trimming with weed eater, trim bushes, rake there are very few leaves in my yard and place in bag for pick-up (these said bags of leaves will be placed behind my home in garbage bags and left there for the remainder of the summer, along with the other piles of trash that they have collecting vermin, and snakes).  I will not even let my son play in the back yard anymore because of the nests of water moccasins that are back there now due to the piles of trash. One of the reasons that I purchased the home that I did is because it sat in a beautiful location next to a woods with no one behind me. Now it is used for trash the things that the owners deem “untidy” in the rest of the park such as boats, and trash, there is also a large burn pile in which at one point they burned so high and hot that even being a good acre away from my home I was afraid would melt my siding they did burn the two trees that they placed it in between completely on one side of each. I have mentioned this many times but they pretty much tell me they can do what they want. The list also consisted of cleaning up my sons toys skate board and bike and placing them out of sight, sweeping and keeping clean my deck, I am not sure if they ment my front or back deck in which my back deck is completely gated and what I would deem private property since I own my home, therefore they would have no right to be on it. There is nothing on it except the washing machine that is also on the list and yes I agree it needs to go but it just thawed out and we are even able to move it. Also, states I need to replace a part of my eve of my home that blew off in a wind storm and is now gone. The 10 day list includes painting my skirting, and power washing my garage doors, painting the trim and eves on my home. My question is can they tell me all of these things? All of it are things on my list as well as I said the weather just broke, not to mention so am I broke. I would love to reside the whole place but financially am unable. I am all about a clean and tidy home and have no problem with that what I do have a problem with is them telling me what, and how long I have to do it in. Can they?
