carpet replacement/painting the walls

By Sarah

I recently moved out of my old appartment after almost 4 years, and the landlord/apartment complex is trying to charge for replacing the carpets and painting the walls.  the carpet had a few stains i couldn’t get out and my kids drew on the walls with permanent marker, so i know it wasn’t perfect, but i would consider that "normal waer and tear".  plus, i thought the landlord HAD to replace the carpet and paint the walls when a new tenant took over.  HELP!  where can i get more info about this?

Kids drawing on the walls with a marker is not “normal wear and tear” ; paint the walls.
The carpet? Find out when they bought and install the carpet?
It goes down in value over the years; but if they just installed it when you moved in?
Your stains depends on what and where and how bad. Get a professional carpet cleaner to look at it.
