Charing water on 4 units with 1 meter

By Naomi

Hi, I live in Virginia, and I wanted to know if my landlord can charge water on 4 different units using on meter per build. The residents never see a water bill, we have to pay what’s add onto the rent each month. Could someone please advise on what to do. Thanks for any assistance

Hi Naomi. What does your lease say about water bills? If it states on your lease that you have to pay a specific amount each month as your water utility then you have to pay it. In your case your landlord should give you a copy of the water bill and the receipt of the utility paid. You should also have your own water meter since there are four different units there.
