Cigarette smoke – help!

I live in a large house that has been converted into apartment and I live across from someone who smokes cigaretts and the smoke goes into the hallway and when I open my door I inhale smoke and it makes me sick.  Also if she has her windows open and I open mine the wind blows the smoke into my apartment.

I can’t stand the smell of it and she smokes like a chimney.  I tried to put an air freshener in the hallway but it got stolen.
Does anyone else have this problem?  What can I do about it?  I don’t want to die from second hand smoke.
